Swimmers go to the Docks

With the exciting news that docklands are now open to swimmers we thought we’d give it a try. If you fancy a dip in the docks we’ll be meeting at the beach next to Wake Up Docklands Wednesday evening 26th August at 6:30pm. Wet suits optional.

The nearest DLR station is Royal Victoria situated just moments away from the beach itself.

Alternatively it is just a short walk from West Silvertown which lies just south of the dock. The Jubilee line connects to Canning Town which is just a quick hop across to the DLR into Royal Victoria or a brief 15 minute walk following the signs for ExCeL.

Cost will be £8 plus a one off £10 NOWCA membership (National Open Water Coaching Association). If there are 10 or more of us we get a £1 discount.

The London royal docks open water swimming venue is an iconic setting and prides itself on creating the safest swimming environment. They test the water fortnightly and can provide equipment to hire or buy. There is also an area to keep clothes safe (we’ll find out what that is when we get there). More information on their web site>>

To save time, they suggest signing up for your NOWCA membership online beforehand.
