Spring Relays 2025

Brockwell Lido came alive with energy, competition, and community spirit as the Brockwell Spring Club Relays returned for a thrilling hour of racing.

From 8pm to 9pm on Thursday, 29th May, the iconic open-air pool played host to over 120 swimmers from nine local swimming and triathlon clubs who brought their A-game and plenty of team spirit to the water. The relays, organised in a fast-paced and friendly format, featured a mix of competitive edge and good-humoured rivalry.

The clubs taking part included:

  • Brockwell Swimmers (the home team)

  • Clapham Chasers

  • Crystal Palace Masters

  • Crystal Palace Triathletes

  • Out To Swim

  • Serpentine Tri

  • South London Swimming Club

  • Spencer Swim Team

  • Windrush Triathlon Club

Each team fielded swimmers in mixed relays that tested not only speed but strategy and cohesion. The lido echoed with cheers as swimmers dove into the cool late-spring waters, powering through lengths in rapid succession. It was an impressive showcase of local talent and a testament to the strength of South London’s vibrant aquatic community.

While the event was friendly in spirit, the competition was fierce. Spencer Swim Team and Crystal Palace Masters impressed with slick changeovers and powerful swims, while Out To Swim and Windrush Tri brought energy and crowd-pleasing performances.

Whether seasoned masters or multisport athletes, each swimmer contributed to the electric atmosphere that lit up the Lido under the dusky evening sky. The event not only celebrated athleticism but also the joy of community sport, where camaraderie and connection mean just as much as the final result.

The clubs are certainly upping their game with some very fast swims this year. First place went to Out to Swim, followed by Spencer Swim and then the newly formed Crystal Palace Masters. The scratch Orange team won the Pot Luck Plunge.

As the relays wrapped up and the poolside buzzed with laughter, congratulations, and towel-drying celebrations, one thing was clear: the Brockwell Club Relays are fast becoming a must-watch (and must-swim) fixture in London’s swim calendar.
