Member’s Survey
ASA Membership 2018

Brockwell Swimmers membership is growing, currently 352, with an increasing number of events both at the Lido and beyond. However, for the club to continue we need to make a serious decision.

Membership of the ASA for Brockwell LIdo?

It has been indicated to us by Fusion Management that to hire the pool for Water Polo and other activities next year we need to register our members with the ASA, Amateur Swimming Association (part of Swim England). Without membership we may not be able to use the pool.

There are positives and negatives to joining the ASA:

FOR MEMBERS
Positives
  • Brockwell Swimmers club events can continue at Brockwell Lido.
  • Members can choose the basic level 1 ASA membership or higher.
  • Members can save money using their ASA membership across other events (e.g. Seahorse Swim, Bournemouth Pier to Pier, Canary Wharf, etc).
  • Members gain individual insurance cover at ASA events.
FOR THE CLUB
Positives
  • The club can continue to hire Brockwell Lido for Water Polo.
  • The club can apply to hire a lane forĀ  Summer Swimming sessions at the Lido on Wednesday mornings.
  • Recognition as a Swimming Club.
  • Help us find coaches and lifeguards for club events.
  • Help us hire when hiring other facilities.
  • Training opportunities.
  • London ASA representative to help us work with Fusion and Lambeth.
Negatives
  • Annual club membership fee if attending more than 3 events.
Negatives
  • Cost of adminstration.
