Social Media Policy

Brockwell Swimmers club Social Media Policy (adopted 29.11.2018)

Social Media (including websites, blogs, forums; social networks, such as but not limited to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram; video-sharing sites such as but not limited to YouTube and Vimeo) are a common means of communication and self-expression. When using official club Social Media it is the responsibility of all members to:-

  • Refrain from publishing negative comments about other swimmers, coaches, clubs, managing companies or local authority.
  • Refrain from publishing controversial or potentially inflammatory subjects.
  • Refrain from acknowledging (e.g. re-Tweeted, shared, liked, etc.) unsubstantiated allegations on any Brockwell Swimmers social media platforms.
  • Avoid hostile or harassing communications in any posts or other online communications towards any of the protected statuses identified in the Equality Act 2010.
  • Identify and credit all copyrighted or borrowed material with citations and links.
  • Review responses to online posts and resolve any concerns before they are posted. Any abusive comments must be deleted and the user blocked.
  • Never post any personal information about anyone else that leaves the other person vulnerable to online abuse, bullying, identity theft or exposure to inappropriate content.

If in doubt be aware of these guidelines:-

  • Use common sense
  • Be respectful
  • Respect copyrights and fair use
  • Be aware of confidentiality and data protection

Members reported as breaking any of these rules when using official club Social Media can have their membership terminated for 12 months (without refund) by a majority vote at the next club general meeting.
