Despite a soggy start, spirits were high as ten London swim and triathlon clubs descended on Brockwell Lido for the annual Brockwell Swimmers’ Summer Club Relays on Thursday 24th July. The evening kicked off with light rain but that didn’t dampen the energy, as teams from across the capital – including Brockwell Swimmers, Clapham Chasers, Crystal Palace Masters, Crystal Palace Triathletes, Out to Swim, Serpentine Swimming Club, Serpentine Triathlete Club, South London Swimming Club, Spencer Swim Team and Windrush Triathlon Club – took to the water with plenty of banter and team pride.
Racing was fast and fun, with each club fielding multiple mixed relays, cheering each other on from poolside. Out to Swim surged ahead to claim the top spot, with a powerful performance that saw them edge out a determined Spencer Swim Team. Serpentine Triathlete Club rounded off the podium with a strong third-place finish, showing just how much talent is swimming around south London these days.
With the relays wrapped and medals handed out, swimmers swapped lanes for pints at the Prince Regent pub aross the road. The rain had long cleared, and laughter spilled into the evening as club rivals became pub mates. Here’s to another great year of friendly competition and community at the lido!
