Channel Relays 2025

In 2025 Brockwell Swimmers will again be attempting to swim the English Channel with four relay teams raising money for RNLI. Are you up for the challenge? With six successful teams over the last three years Brockwell Swimmers will be backing you all the way.

We have booked:

• Connemara, skippered by Kevin Sherman CSA, for the neap tide on Friday 19th July.

• Connemara, skippered by Kevin Sherman CSA, for the neap tide on Sunday 20th.

• Gallivant, skippered by Mike Oram CS&PF, 27th September to 4th October, position 2.

• Louise Jane II, skippered by Andy King CSA, 29th September to 4th October, position 1.

These are good slots to swim but if the weathers does misbehave the swim may be delayed until later in the year. (If there is more demand we may book another boat.)

The twenty and half mile crossing will be swum one hour at a time by each member; e.g. one hour swim then a rest while the other members take their turn. Last year’s successful swims took just over 12 hours. Swimmers must have some experience of sea swimming and be able to manage at least one mile in 40 minutes.

The aims of the Relays are to:

• Support the sport of cold water swimming.
• Raise money for the chosen charity.
• Promote the Brockwell Swimmers club.
• Empower the individual swimmer and the team.

Cost will be £1,000 per swimmer (non-returnable) plus you need to have completed a witnessed, qualifying, duration swim at 16ºC in open water, and a doctor’s medical. The club will be able to offer assistance and advice on your own personal training and help organise team practice swims. The costs can be spread across four installments.

How many people can say they have swum the Channel? It’s your chance to join that club.
