Bathers take over the Turner Gallery

“Sea Bathers” Sunday 24th May, 10:30am – 4:00pm at Turner Contemporary Margate (Foyle Rooms) and then Walpole Bay Tidal Pool, Cliftonville.

An exciting day of talks and events organised by the South East Archive of Seaside Photography considering how creatives and communities reflect and respond to the sea and swimming. This includes a talk by acclaimed writer and sea bather Susie Parr and presentations from artists Emma Critchley and Karen Shepherdson.

Following this morning of talks and presentations there will be an opportunity to view Walpole Bay Tidal Pool through a yurt transformed into a magical camera obscura; visit the itinerant studio of tintype photographer Rob Ball; meet Dom Bridges and the Margate Sea Bathing Machine prototype; and join Susie and the Walpole Bay Swimmers for a Walpole Bay Tidal Pool dip. A shuttle bus will take event ticket holders, £7 each in advance, to and from Walpole Bay.
