Brockwell Shine at Tooting

Brockwell Swimmers were thrilled to take part in the Tooting Bec Lido Heron Cup on Sunday morning 22nd March. Our team of eleven eager swimmers competed across 16 solo and relay races, each taking on around four lengths in a fantastic display of stamina and team spirit. The competition was fierce, with strong entries from Hurlingham Swim Club, Serpentine Swim Club, Spencer Swim Club, and South London Swim Club.

The highlight of the day for Brockwell Swimmers came during the last 10-person Canon Relay, where our team pulled off a brilliant win over Spencer Swim Club, giving everyone a huge boost of morale. The weather stayed mostly cloudy, but the occasional sun brought a welcome warmth, keeping spirits high throughout the morning. Our swimmers’ determination, teamwork, and good humour were on full display, making it a truly enjoyable event for everyone involved.

After the races, a few of the team celebrated with some well-earned victory drinks at the Prince Regent pub, just across from Brockwell Lido. Overall, Brockwell Swimmers finished third, with Spencer Swim Club taking first place for the second year in a row, and Hurlingham Swim Club claiming second. It was a fantastic day of competitive swimming and camaraderie, and we can’t wait to take part again next year!

Many thanks to team members Alex Devine, Andy Saward, Henry Simpson, Imogen Barnett, Jeremie Gilbert, Jonathan Bashforth, Josh Cox, Robert Simpson, Sarah Brimelow, Sophie Simpson and Tim Sutton. Go Team Brockwell!
