Sea Swims 2018

The choice of wild swimming in the UK gets bigger and bigger each year. Here are some sea swims members are signing up for this year. If you have any more suggestions of your own please let us know.

Seahorse Swim Studland Bay Dorset – 1st July

The Seahorse Swim is run by the East Dorset Open Water Swimming Club and held at Knoll Beach in Studland Bay. The event consists of a 2km and 3.8km course around buoys and is open to wetsuit and non-wetsuit swimmers. The race is timed using ankle worn timing chips and there are prizes in many different categories. The swim raises money for The Seahorse Trust, The National Trust and The Royal Life Saving Society.

Online booking opens 10am Sunday 4th March on a first come basis. Set your alarm now.

Pier to Pier Bournemouth Dorset – 15th July

Join thousands of other swimmers raising money for the British Heart Foundation by taking on this unforgettable open water swimming challenge. Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event, but it’s the money you raise that powers the charity’s life saving research, so swimmers are asked to pledge at least £150.

Pier to Pier Herne Bay Kent – 29 July

The Herne Bay Pier to Pier swim is a 750m, 1.5km or 3km sea swim, great way for both experienced and inexperienced sea swimmers to complete in a sheltered yet challenging route across the coast to Herne Bay’s iconic 19th Century Pier. Organised by Active Life, they boasts “no medals, t-shirt, goody bag or unnecessary extras”. Note that this year’s event takes place on a Spring Tide so expect marginally longer swim times.

Pier to Pier Shanklin Isle of Wight – 11th Aug

Sandown to Shanklin Sea Swim is a 2 miles tidal assisted swim which takes place some distance from the shore line and starts at 12 noon. Forms will be available later in the year from the Isle Of Wight Marlins Swim Club. Entrance will only be accepted with the correct fee and places will be issued on a first come first served basis.
