We Cam, we saw, we swam

With Covid restrictions lifted Brockwell Swimmers were able to slot in one of our Walk/Swims before the end of Summer, and a most enjoyable one it turned out to be. Well worth the wait.

Eight of our entrepid gang met on the platform of Paddington Station, with another three joining us along the way, arriving at Shepreth station for the start of our nine mile walk following the river Cam. The sun shone and thanks to Philip Nice for finding our first swim spot, to the surprise of passing dog walkers. Suitably cooled, and sustained from our picnic lunches we headed off for the medieval church at Haslingfield to admire it’s glorious vaulted ceiling and interesting stain glass windows.

A quick tipple at the Red Lion (they do a good jug of Pims) and then our second swim at Granchester Meadows. It was good to see so many people enjoying the great outdoors and a bit of cold water swimming as well.

Then off to Cambridge station for our train ride back to London and finally a chance to rest our legs. A great day and thanks to everyone who came. Keep an eye on this web site for news of Swim/Walks 2022.
